About us
Besteproductwijzer.nl is a Dutch product comparison site. We publish a top five per product class, built with a weighted scoring methodology that is fixed in advance and published on the site.
Why this site exists
Most comparison sites show a number or five stars without explaining where it came from. We think the reverse is what a reader needs: if a product wins, you should be able to see which criterion it wins on, how heavily that criterion counts, and which source sits behind it. That reasoning is therefore in the reading path, not in a footnote.
For readers in the Netherlands who prefer English
These pages exist because plenty of people buy from Dutch retailers without reading Dutch comfortably. Our English editions are localised rather than translated: they carry the context a Dutch reader already has — how the EU energy label works in practice, what a standard Dutch rental agreement allows you to install, and which retailers deliver where. Prices, products and shops are the same as in the Dutch edition, because the market is the same.
How the editorial process works
The candidate list comes from our own product catalogue, refreshed daily from the feeds of the retailers we work with. Per product class we select the models available in the Netherlands at that moment and assess them against the criteria on themethodology page.
The arithmetic criteria are computed from published specifications. The editorial criteria are judged per product with a cited source. The total and the resulting order are then a sum, not a choice. Every publication is reviewed by a person before it goes live.
What we do not do
- We do not test physically. There is no measurement rig in our office.
- We do not accept payment for a position in a list.
- We do not copy product descriptions from retailers.
- We do not feature products that are not in our catalogue.
How we earn
Through affiliate links to bol and Coolblue. If you buy something through such a link we receive a percentage of the sale, and you pay no more for it. Which retailer pays the most commission plays no part in the order of a list. See theaffiliate policy for the details.
